Today concludes two weeks of inspiration? Two weeks of moving stories and proof that anything is possible if you set your mind to it.
I am talking about the Olympics. I don’t know what it is, maybe just being a proud mom to my own dancer daughters, but I can’t help but watch as a proud Canadian, with tears streaming down my eyes.
Listening to stories of triumph like that of South African Oscar Pistorius, the fastest man with on no legs; the blade runner. A man who is the first to compete in both the Olympics and the Paralympics game. Oscar is not the type of person that understands the word CAN’T. A double leg amputee, Oscar has taken the olympic world by storm. But he is proof that anything is possible if you just BELIEVE.
Every time I hear that song “I Believe” on the Canadian networks it couldn’t be further from the truth. Believing is what keeps us going on a day-to-day basis. Is what children do at Christmas, believe that a man in a red suit will come down the chimney and leave presents. Oscar is not the only story at the Olympics that moved me to tears, what about Usain Bolt? The fastest man in the world, he transcends race, colour, gender and economic class, and comes from a land of little financial wealth. He put Jamaica on the map, with his speed and his smile will be one of the highlights of the 2012 olympics.
There have been many stories, The Canadian women’s soccer team, Michael Phelps, but what moves me the most are the little guys, the ones like Stephen Kiprotich, who competed in the Marathon, from Uganda. His win today was the country’s second gold medal EVER.
When you watch these athletes you see what imagine, hard work and ambition can do, anything is possible! If you just BELIEVE. If you told Stephen, Usain or Oscar, your crazy it will never happen! I am sure they would have looked at you with a smile and said just you wait and see!
The olympics not only brings nations together but the accomplishments of what these athletes can do, will inspire a generation to come.
So what inspires you?
What makes you happy?
What makes you want to achieve greatness?
What makes you believe?
As a party planner and especially with young children, my job is to make them believe. Believe in themselves, believe in each other and believe in imagination.
Whether I am pampering a child at a spa party, or providing them with a special visit from a Princess. Believing not only in what we do, but believing in these kids is what our business is all about. I am inspired everyday by the people I meet, by the stories I hear and the kids I meet.
Watching the kids faces when Cinderella walks through the door at their party, puts proof in the word BELIEVE. Because for that moment in time we are all believers and we are all in a happy place.
Cinderella is ready for the party
So everyday when you are faced with a challenge, think back to the olympics of 2012 and remember how inspired you felt, and how you believe.
Enjoy your day, and let me know what inspires you. firstname.lastname@example.org
